The one where you're being chased: These dreams are common when you're feeling stressed or anxious about something. In these dreams the person chasing you is trying to hurt or kill you and instills a sense of fear. This represents the attempt to "out run" and not confront your fear in your waking life. You have the choice to either confront the thing chasing you or to continue to run. by facing and acknowledging your fears (represented by the chasee) you can figure out what exactly in your life is bothering you. You can also get rid of frightful people/things chasing you by confronting them and realizing that this is indeed, just a dream. These dreams repesent what we really fear in life and common fears and things we are avoiding in everyday life include: sexual feelings, responsibility, expressing what we really feel in public, our fear of death, sense of failure, guilt, emotional pain, grief, etc.

The one where you're flying: These dreams often fall under the category of lucid dreams (dreams where you know that you're dreaming). Flying in a dream can express the dealing with internal influences that hold us down, such as self doubt, anxiety, and depression. If you are having trouble staying in flight and feel a great struggle while flying may show a problem with controlling your the circumstances in your life and the lack of power you have in these circumstances. Barriers such as trees and power lines represent quite literally, people or obstacles who are standing in your way in your waking life to achieve your goals. Being high on a hill or mountain canrepresent seeing life as a whole or gaining a new perspective on a situation. However, if you feel fear while flying or feel as if you are flying too high, this can show fear of success and challenges. On the under end of the spectrum, if you are joyful and having fun while flying, it is suggested that you are on top of a situation as well as representing your personal sense of power.

The one where you're taking a test: These dreams commonly represent the worries that you have about living up to any moral or intellectual standards that are placed upon you in your waking life. It can also mean that you are being scrutinized in some way. Dreams of this nature usually have to do with your self esteem and self confidence that you may or may not lack. If you have a dream where you fail a test, this rarely means that you will fail the test in real life. The dream merely represents the fear and anxiety that the dreamer might have of not living up to someone else's (or their own) expectations of themselves. People who have these dreams usually are afraid of letting others down. If your pencil keeps breaking during the test or if the test is writting in another language or if you come across other obstacles that will prevent you from passing the exam, this shows that you are worried about not making the grade of other people's criticisms. These feelings that you have in the dream toward the test (anxiety, fear, etc) can be very much the same to the ones you feel towards a situation or a ntestt.jpgew challenge in your waking life.

The one where you're falling: A common misbelief is that if you dream that you are falling and don't wake up before you hit the ground, it means that you have died. This is not true.Falling merely highlights the same feelings of insecurity and anxiety that many other dreams do. Falling means that you have no control; nothing to hold on to, nothing to stop you from hitting the ground, nothing to save you. This may parallel with any feelings of not being in control that you have in your waking life, whether it be in your work or personal life. These dreams can also depict a sense of failure in certain aspects of your life. You feel as if you don't measure up to what you're expected to be and that you can't keep up with the demands of everyday life. Sigmeund Freud (a dream to be theorist discussed in a later genre) theorized that if you dreamt you were falling, it meant that you were about to give in to some sort of sexual urge. The bible suggests that dreams about falling mean that the dreamer is not following the word of the Lord and is instead acting on his own accord.

The one where you're naked: Usually in these dreams we are horrified and shocked to see that we are naked and try to cover up as quickly as possible. This can mean that we are hiding something from others that we are afraid to share due to feelings of shamefulness or insecurities. Many times in these dreams no one except yourself seems to notice the fact that you're stolling around without any clothes on. This may imply that any fears or insecurities are unnoticed by others and that you are making a big deal out of nothing. If you experience any anxiety about being nude in the dream, this can mean that you have a fear that others know what your true feelings about a situation or the person is or what desires you have. It depicts the feeling of vulnerability because with clothes on we are covered and can put on a fake veneer and be whatever anyone wants us to be, but when this safe guard vanishes, we are left with nothing to hide behind and everything is left in the open for all to see.

The one that's lucid: A lucid dream is a dream in which you're fully aware that you're dreaming and so you can control it. The dreamer can actively engage in the dream and these dreams are often extremely vivid and lifelike. A study in 1995 in Germany showed that dreamer can also control the time spans in the dreams. It can sometimes be difficult to tell if you're dreaming or not when experiencing a lucid dream, since they can often be so true to life. There are various "dream checks" you can make to be sure that you are indeed dreaming and not awake: many times in dreams books are blank. Look at a book and check the pages. Look away and check the words again, to see if they have changed as this is common in dreams as well. Look in a mirror. In dreams, figures in mirrors are usually blurred, disfigured, or frightening. Look at a clock or watch and look away. Look back after a few seconds to see if the time has changed drastically, as it usually does in dreams. Of course, the most common pinch test. If you pinch any part of your body in a dream you will not feel it.

The one that's a nightmare: These dreams are very fightening usually causing us to wake up screaming and sweating and shaking. Though in no real danger, they cause our heart to race and our pulse to quicken. Nighmares are commonly representations of fears. Usually fears of moral standards and threat of punishment. We tend to have nightmares more when we are younger rather than as we grow up. This being said, it doesn't mean that people older than the age of eight don't have nightmares. After the death of a loved one or other traumatic experience it is very common to experience a nightmare. When going through withdrawal from certain drugs (especially sleeping midications) nightmares are common as well. In some instances they are even the side affects of certain medications. People who have repeated nightmares that interfere with their daily lives can very likely suffer from "nightmare disorder" whichmonster.jpg is apparently a real thing that can be diagnosed.

The one that's premonitionary: In these dreams, your spirit actually leaves your body and goes on a voyage of sorts and embarks in discovery. These are a very special and rare type of dream that reveals truths to the dreamer that are not accesible in waking life. They show future events that will eventually occur as well. These dreams often cause you to fulfill your wishes and desires. There is no real way to discern if a dream is a premonition or not except to wait and see if what you dreamt would happen does or not.
